The actual name Wet Jacket Arm was attributed to Captain James Cook, who on his second trip to New Zealand in 1773, arrived on his ship The Resolution after 133 days at sea. He moored it in Tamatea (Dusky Sound) in a very tight, snug little cove not much bigger than his vessel.

This spot was called Pickersgill Harbour. He stayed here with his crew for approximately six weeks, during which time the long boats were sent out in all and every direction to record the depths of this amazing , vast internal waterway.

In August 1986, Rob first saw Chard Farm. After studying winemaking in Germany in the early '80s, he learned from a cousin about an orchard near Queenstown. Intrigued, Rob went to Central Otago and soon found himself running Chard Farm as an orchard.

As one of the region’s pioneering wineries, they are dedicated to handcrafting premium wines and upholding the traditions that have made us a world-renowned destination since releasing Central Otago's first commercial vintage in 1987.

First established in 2011, the Robertsons purchased the Tavern at the start of 2020. Taking on the hospitality game at the start of the pandemic wasn't quite what they had in mind...but they pushed through and haven't looked back since.

Peregrine Winery is seated on the beautiful lake with a few birds and ducks. It seemed unreal and soothing.

Cellar doors are built in a contemporary style. It is a combination of natural and futuristic styles.

Inside the Cellar Door, there is a nicely arranged seating area and the exhibition area itself, where the wines are reminiscent of a night bar with lights in the background.
