Take a day off the beaten path, and visit the splendid island, Pulau Ubin. An island with 60's -70's rustic characteristics that is very different from modern Singapore.
To arrive at Pulau Ubin, you will first need to go to Tanah Merah MRT Station and make sure you are out of the station through Exit B.

Get off the bus at Changi Village Terminal, then turn left and search for Changi Point Ferry Terminal directions sings. It's a short walk of about 5 minutes until you reach the ferry.

The Ferry is leaving only when it's full, meaning, there is no regular schedule. It takes about 15 minutes to reach Ubin from the Terminal with the Ferry.
Sensory Trail, Pulau Ubin

Turn right from the Jetty Entrance, pass the Pulau Ubin Police Coast Guard and enter the Sensory Trail, a less than 2km trail that takes about an hour of walking. Like other sites at Pulau Ubin, this trail was designed with elegance and careful thought. On your way, you may encounter animals and find fruit trees, spices, medicinal herbs, vegetables, and more. The view is beautiful and the walking is very easy and calm.

Continue with the trail until it curves to the left, then you'll see a large pond, covered with lotus flowers, and surrounded with plants. The pond actually consists of 4 smaller ponds that were unified into one, to serves habitats for biodiversity.
Teck Seng's Place, Pulau Ubin

Very close to Sensory Trail Pond resides Teck Seng's Place (House 363B), an open house to the joyous of the visitors. The house, as the name suggests, was belonged to Chew Teck Seng, who used to have a provision shop that supplies vegetables and left the Island in 2005. Then, Teck Seng's Place underwent preservation and turned into a traditional Chinese kampong house and exhibit 1970's life on the island. Please be aware that Teck Seng's Place is open to the public only on the 2nd and 4th weekend of the month and during holidays, from 10:00 until 14:00.

Continue on Jin Ubin until you see Ubin Fruit Orchard, a charming piece of nature that is open to the public and covered with approximately 350 fruit trees. Named Ubin Fruit Orchard, to honor the island residents that their own trees were situated in this place.

Head on to Chek Jawa, one of Ubin's main attractions. Continue in Jin Ubin, turn right on Jin Durian and go on until you'll arrive at Chek Jawa Visitor Centre. Chek Jawa Visitor Centre, which is also known as House No. 1, is an enchanting 2-floors cottage with a fetching jetty that is observing the nearby island, Pulau Sekudu (also called Frog Island due to its shape). The Tudor-style house was built in the 1930s and has an eye-catching fireplace which today is home to bats. The place was beautifully preserved and restored and today provides assistance to Chek Jawa visitors and comprehensive explanations about the house's history and Chek Jawa's rich biodiversity.
Chek Jawa Boardwalk, Pulau Ubin

After visiting the Chek Jawa Visitor Centre, turn back toward the Information Kiosk and enter the Chek Jawa Trail, then move on until you reach Chek Jawa Boardwalk. The coastal boardwalk offers exceptional scenery of the sea and the shore and will lead you to an impressive mangrove boardwalk. The way is full of a variety of birds, bugs, tropical plants, and everything you would expect to find a home on the shore or in a forest. The Chek Jawa Trail is actually a loop trail that is surrounding Chek Jawa Wetlands and exhibits the beauty of the place as well as its biodiversity.

In sharp contrast to bustling urban Singapore and its skyscrapers, Chek Jawa Wetlands like much of Pulau Ubin is untouched nature, a tranquil area that is fascinating to explore. 100 hectares at a size, Chek Jawa is an intersection of 6 different ecosystems: coastal forest, mangroves, sandy beach, rocky beach, coral rubble, and seagrass lagoon. Together, they display an excellent example of bountiful biodiversity.

On your way back from Chek Jawa Wetlands continue from Jejawi Tower toward Petai Quarry, and enjoy the Quarry scenic view. Then continue forward until you'll reach Jin Sam Heng and turn left until you'll arrive back to Jin Ubin and go on in Lorong Bin Kiang until you'll find Fo Shan Ting Da Bo Gong Temple.

Fo Shan Ting Da Bo Gong Temple is a small Chinese temple that was witness to many events on the Island. The Temple was built in 1869, and since most of the island's former residents were Chinese, many celebrations took place at the Temple. After your Temple visit ends, you may also freshen up and eat. The recommended restaurant in the area is Season Live Seafood, which is very close to the Temple.

Move on at Jin Jelutong, drink at the famous Ah Ma Drink Stall, continue until you'll arrive at Jin Endut Senin, and turn when you'll see Puaka Hill Hut. Then hike up to Puaka Hilltop View Point, the hike is very short, about 15 minutes until you reach the View Point and see the splendid view.
