Fortezza Medicea, Montepulciano

Fortezza Medicea, the Medici Fortress, is a 13th-century fortress built by the historic Republic of Siena. Located in a topographically strategic high point, which in old times was supposed to protect the city from its enemies. Situated near Piazza Grande, Fortezza Medicea underwent many changes and reconstructions during the centuries. Today, the place serves as a cultural center and hosts a variety of art exhibitions and conferences.
