Piazza Grande, Montepulciano
The center of Montepulciano and the highest point in this charming hilltop town, Piazza Grande is locals' favorite for gathering and celebrations for centuries. The vivid square is full of cafes and is moments from many of the town's attractions. It is right next to the Cathedral Saint Mary of The Assumption and has a lovely fountain named Il Pozzo dei Grifi e dei Leoni. It is surrounded by wonderful medieval and Renaissance buildings like the 16th-century Palazzo Contucci which belong to the Contucci family and the magnificent 13th-century town hall, Palazzo Comunale. Palazzo Comunale with its bell tower provides a stunning panoramic view of the town and the beautiful Tuscan landscape around.
