Piazza del Campo, Siena

In the core of Siena's historical center resides Piazza del Campo, a lively medieval square with many attractions. The square which was designed as a shell is a place of gathering and celebration for the people of the city for centuries. Piazza del Campo is also famous for hosting Palio di Siena, a horse race, which traditionally takes place every year on July 2nd, and August 16th.
